I Just Might Live

I don't know if any of you have Fibro Myalgia (FM)or not, but I have it and since I started doing exercises in water, it hasn't flared up....until last Friday evening. When it first started up, I thought it was just my hip joints acting up again. I've been taking a new pain medication which has made the pain in my back go to a very low level. My hip joints haven't hurt for quite some time.

By Saturday morning, I knew it was FM flaring it's ugly head into my life again. I haven't been neglecting the exercise in water much so I was very surprised. I ended up spending my life in the bed until Tuesday evening when I sat up in the living room for a little while.

I had a PT appointment Wednesday at 11:00 and Steve called to see if I could get it a little later as it was very hard for me to drag myself out of bed. They couldn't change it so I felt like I literally drug myself to the whirlpool tub to try for some relief. I felt better as long as the jets were on an area of pain, but then the rest of my body was killing me.

FM is a disease that makes all of your muscles and joints throb. It hurts almost anywhere you can be touched (so don't touch me). I made it to my appointment and Abbey massaged my back and neck. Which was weird because she could touch me there without inflicting more pain.

After PT I made myself go down to the pool for some movement in water. That helped! I know that you need to exercise to get relief from FM but it's the last thing you want to do. Once you get started in the water you start getting some relief. This is my second day moving around in the water so here's hoping the FM will go away.

We actually got to the YMCA too early today for me to get in the pool, so I told Steve to call me at 9:30 when I could go in. Until then, I was going to sleep in the car. Steve left his phone at home today so he was going to try to find one in the Y that he could use. What he should have done was rig up some type of system to have a few doorbells ring when it was time for me to come in.

He actually forgot to call me and I woke up at 10:00 and then had to rush as there was only 1/2 hour left to use the pool. So, rush I did, then it turned out I was able to stay in the pool for the next half hour so I accomplished the one hour exercise program and headed to the hot tub. I feel a lot better, but if it's like yesterday, my fingers and knees will start the light throbbing that usually occurs before my whole body starts hurting.

I have an appointment with a physician assistant at the Pain Control office tomorrow (my doctor isn't available until April). I don't know if there's anything they can do (since the strong pills I'm on aren't helping), but I'll know tomorrow.

I'd best go, you're probably sick of hearing me whine and I need to get up and move around!

2 Bday Parties

Jordan and Christian celebrate their birthday on the same day. This year Heather invited the family to a place called The Incredible Pizza Place (I think). When you first get there, you go down to a room set aside for the party.

After most people arrive, you are sent to go to the buffet which has pizza and other types of foods that are really pretty good. I'm not a fan of buffets so that says a lot. What we did was have the birthday kids open their gifts after everyone eats. Let me tell you, you are full when you leave.

Next comes the fun part. There are go-karts, bumper cars, pinball, and all kind of games that you can earn tickets to redeem for toys, etc. Of course, I cannot remember the name of the game I like the best, oh, well.

There must be tremendous maintenance on their games. I forgot to look at what they ring up your receipt on when you first get there to see if it was an epson receipt printer. Par for the course, I remember so few things.

Anyway, everyone had a really great time. Thank you, Heather and Pato!

Going Rogue

I've always considered myself a rebel from the time I turned 16 until I married Steve. Once in a while I feel that little rebellion try to sneak out again, but it doesn't cause too much damage now. I think I've grown up a little. Other times, I wish I could rebel some, but I know how I'm supposed to act.

I love to read, actually, I am addicted to reading. If I get down to one book or less then I have to read old Reader's Digests if I can't get to the library. Actually, thanks to Jackie, I have a current Reader's Digest that I read in between books. When I finally get to the library, I check out 20 or more books. I know I can't possibly read that many in three weeks, however, sometimes I actually do. But when I don't, I know I can renew them.

I just finished reading Sarah Palin's new book, Going Rogue. It is a fantastic read. One part of it gives credit to how Ronald Reagan dealt with recession, "Giving people control over more of the money they've earned: now that's real stimulus. Get federal spending under control, and then step aside and watch this economy roar back to life." I could go on but I want you to read the book, it is fantastic.

I voted for the McCain/Palin ticket and I loved Sarah as soon as heard her. I felt a kinship. Once I read this book, I could not believe what she was put through! She's a better woman than me, I couldn't have done it.

Now I am reading The Chamber by John Grisham. In one chapter Lee took her nephew, Adam, back to the home she lived in when she grew up. She had to go through the house to set aside anything worth saving before it was foreclosed. According to Lee, none of the furniture was worth saving. This was a pretty old house.

I love going through old houses, don't you? I always get that sense that you might find a treasure. Well, anyway, back to real life. It is b e a u t i f u l out! Have a great day, don't waste the sunshine.

Time With the Realtor Again

Josh called the other day and asked if we would go through a house he and Shelley are interested in. Basically, they wanted Steve's advice as I have no clue what might be needed or costs involved.

Shelley was at work so Steve and I rode in Jay's truck with him and the kids. Josh had to wake Cambria up so she was hungry from that point on. I sat in the back next to her so I fed her a bottle while Josh drove us to the house.

She is such a sweetheart, I just love her. She slurped the milk right down and by the time we got to he house (which wasn't far), she had already chugged down the whole bottle, practically. I'm still fighting the pounds and it seems like the pounds are winning, think I'll look into some diet pills.

The house was pretty neat. I'd really like to see them get this house. It does have some things that need to be worked on, so Josh will get some estimates first before any bidding is involved. It is a three bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home with a 2 car garage which is attached to the house.

I'll let ya know if they decide to try to get this one or not. They've been looking at houses for quite a while. I'd best get, still need to do my thing at the Y while I'm here. Halfmoon

Snow, snow and more snow!

OK, I know it's Iowa but enough of the white stuff! Steve's sick of it, I'm sick of it, and I bet all of you are sick of it too!

Steve went to Earlham this morning (while I caught some zzzzs) and after I soaked in the whirlpool for an hour and a half - two hours, I finally decided maybe I should go back to bed. I couldn't keep my eyes open, so what's the use. Of course by the time I drained and cleaned the tub, I was wide awake again.

After catching up on the laundry, I sat down to watch have a little DVD time. It wasn't long when Steve came in the door. Time to go to DSM to the Y and possibly the library. If I had skin care problems, I would checkout the top acne treatment online!

The drive to DSM was a little hairy. There were probably 10 - 12 cars in the ditches and between the east and west sections of the interstate. I was a little nervous to continue the drive. Steve reminded me that I had things to do on my blog, so I didn't express my unease in continuing. I mean, there were cars upside down on the ride in.

Instead of chickening out, I coached Steve on the drive in (which I'm sure he loved) and reminded him of the rules of winter driving :) tee hee. If we survive the ride home, I'll touch base here again. In the meantime, have a wonderful weekend, but remember...drive safely and especially, watch out for the other guy! Halfmoon

Abby and Justin got Kayla this adorable little pink rocking horse. You squeeze his right ear and he talks to you. When you squeeze his left ear, he sings something about riding him (clippity clap, clippity clap). Kayla really goes to town on it.

Tonight she brought her little doll to me with a Pamper and told me she was poopy. You're thinking about the bathtub story, aren't you! Anyhoo, she likes me to put the diaper on her baby, gets a real kick out of it. So do I, the diaper goes clear up under the armpits on it. That one diaper got a lot of mileage out of it.

If you want to know about an acne cure, click on pronexin. Until next time, get out in the sun when it's shining. Halfmoon

Winter Olympics Are On

Whenever Mikayla gets a little antsy, I get out the little purse-size Renew Lotion and we put a dab on her hands. She rubs her hands together then rubs her cheeks (she's a natural at it). It takes her mind off of wanting her Mommy and we both get soft hands.

She's taken me to the refrigerator a few times for her glass of milk. That little girl loves drinking milk, she amazes me. Other times she walks me to the garbage pail so she can throw away her used Kleenex. The Olympics are on so occasionally I have her watch the ice skaters skate across the ice.

Of course, at bedtime she takes both Steve's and my hand and walks us to the bedroom, gives us each a hug and she lays right down! What a kid! We tell her goodnight and close the bedroom door and she normally goes right to sleep. Once in a while, you'll hear her talking to herself over the monitor, just cracks me up!

I hope when Mikayla gets older, she doesn't have problems with her skin.
I've had a lot of people talk to me about a treatment for eczema. I was lucky when I was young, I suppose having dry skin kept me from having eczema. Here's hoping you have a great day!
